Lug nut indicators are small pointed indicators, fixed to the lug nuts of the wheels. The indicator move with the nut and if the nut becomes loose, the point of the indicator shifts clearly out of alignment with the other indicators. If too many lug nuts are less tight, the wheel can separate from the wheel stud. Loose wheel nut indicators allow identification of loose nuts before this can occur.
