There are a lot of 3D Modeling Software out there and usually colleges will use a 3d Modeling Program like Maya or 3DS Max, what I used while at school. I learned how to use Maya and 3DS Max programs (which cost a lot of money) for modeling and animation, texturing, sound syncing, etc. I found out that there are a lot of different parts to animated movies
